Personal Profile

Yang Kaijin, style name Yao De, is from Zhushan, Hubei. He formerly served as Director of the China Institute of Artistic Science and Technology, Deputy President of China Culture Daily, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of China Cultural Media Group, and Vice Chairman of the Chinese Hardpen Calligraphy Association. He is currently Vice President of the China Cultural Information Association, a member of the China Calligraphers Association, and Vice President of the Senior Cadres Calligraphy and Painting Society of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

  Exhibitions  

In 1996, participated in the 2nd International Calligraphy Exhibition (Korea) and the 4th China Art Expo;
In 1997, participated in the "Celebrating the Return of Hong Kong" Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition;
In 1998, participated in the "Calligraphy Exhibition of Notables from Both Sides of the Taiwan Strait";
In 1999, participated in the "Celebrating the Return of Macao" Hundred-Meter Calligraphy Scroll Exhibition;
In 2003, participated in the China-Japan Contemporary Calligraphy Art Exhibition;
In 2005, participated in the 1st Beijing International Calligraphy Biennial;
In 2006, participated in the China (International) Calligraphy Congress and created the hundred-meter calligraphy scroll "Hanmo Huazhang";
In 2008, participated in the "Peace Song — Shenzhou VII Space Flight Art Journey" calligraphy exhibition, where the work was carried aboard Shenzhou VII, and the Olympic Journey Calligraphy and Painting Art Exhibition;
In 2009, participated in North Korea's "April Spring Friendship Art Festival," representing the Chinese Art Troupe to present a calligraphy work to Kim Jong-il, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea;
In 2014, participated in the "Invitation Exhibition of Calligraphy and Painting Masterpieces to Celebrate the 65th Anniversary of the Founding of the PRC";
In 2015, participated in the exhibition commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the Victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan and the 6th China (Gaomi) Red Sorghum Cultural Festival "Fengcheng Heyun" Calligraphy and Paper-cutting Joint Exhibition;
In 2016, to commemorate the 2567th anniversary of Confucius' birth, participated in the International Confucius Culture Festival and the "Hanmo Ruyun" Exhibition of Contemporary Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Masters;
In July 2017, participated in the "Love China, Master's Invitation" touring exhibition commemorating the 80th anniversary of the full-scale outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japan and the public welfare activity of visiting elderly veterans of the War of Resistance; in August, participated in the "Everlasting Monument" — exhibition celebrating the 68th anniversary of the founding of the PRC and the first Rushan National Invitation Exhibition of Famous Calligraphers and Painters;
In 2018, awarded the "Same Roots, Same Dream" Model Figure Annual Art Achievement Award at the Global Chinese New Year Gala;
In 2019, participated in the exhibition commemorating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the PRC;
In 2020, participated in the "Ink and Color Praise Heroes" event, donating the calligraphy work "Fighting the Epidemic," and took part in the "Red Flag Fluttering Like a Painting — Invitation Exhibition of Master Calligraphy Works Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone."

His works have been collected in the Chinese Surnames Ancestral Stele Forest and the Weishan Lake International Calligraphy Stele Forest.

In 1996, co-published "Famous Hardpen Calligraphers on Writing";
In 1999, published the hardpen running script edition of "The Three-Character Classic for the Elderly";
