Wang Guoqing, also known as Shan Gong, is a direct disciple of Zhang Daqian and Cao Li'an. He is the Dean of Hubei Academy of Painting and Calligraphy, Dean of the Painting and Calligraphy Institute of Hubei Cultural Arts Exchange Association, and a National First-Class Artist. He has long taught at universities, graduated from the Advanced Research Class of the China Artists Association, serves as a council member of the China National Painters Association, and is a member of the Hubei Artists Association and the Hubei Calligraphers Association, as well as an art consultant for the Wuhan Collectors Association. In 2019, he served as the leader of the Hubei Cultural Arts Exchange Delegation on a cultural exchange tour in Malaysia.

In 2001, his Chinese painting work "Thick Virtue Bears All Things" won the Commemorative Award at the "Second National Exhibition of Minority Fine Arts."
In 2002, his Chinese painting work was selected for the "Full Hall of Fu" Sixth National Exhibition of Fine Arts of All Ethnic Groups.
In 2002, his Chinese painting "Mountain Light and Water Color" was selected for the First China Landscape Painting Biennale.
In 2003, his Chinese painting "Green Pines of Mount Tai with Rising Red Sun" was selected for the 2003 National Chinese Painting Exhibition.
