Ma Tianbao
Ma Tianbao, courtesy name Tianxing, studio name Jiuru Tang, originally from Qinghai. Signed artist of Rongbaozhai (Tianjin). From an early age, he received family instruction, devoted himself to meticulous copying of ancient works, diligently studied the techniques of past masters, and further sought to understand their inner spirit, deeply comprehending the hearts of the ancients. He excels in all genres—figures, birds and flowers, and landscapes. As he grew older, he studied traditional culture under the renowned Beijing painter Ali Leigong, then became a disciple of Mr. Wu Xiu, a contemporary renowned painter and president of the Beijing Academy of Painting; Mr. Chang Baoli, a contemporary master from the Palace Museum; Mr. Guo Guan, the pioneer of New Chan painting and guqin master; and Mr. Chen Wujie, a distinguished artist from Shanghai.
In recent years, he has gained recognition and endorsement from renowned masters; Mr. Wu Xiu, president of the Beijing Academy of Painting, praised him as a "genius painter" and "another Daqian," inscribing "Perseverance Without Ceasing" as an encouragement. Mr. Chang Baoli, a renowned master from the Palace Museum, wrote the preface and commentary for his album. Mr. Xie Zuo, Director of the Qinghai Academy of History and Literature and "Counselor Wang" of the Qinghai Provincial People's Government, hailed him as "a golden phoenix flying out of the mountain ravine" and wrote the preface and commentary for him. Mr. Guo Guan, a contemporary renowned painter, authored a preface. Mr. Chen Wujie, a distinguished contemporary painter from Shanghai, gifted him the studio name "Jiuru Tang." His works are collected by institutions such as Peking University, Rongbaozhai Tianjin Branch, the Shaanxi Provincial Art Museum, and the Qinghai Art Museum, as well as by private collectors. His works have been auctioned and sold by multiple auction houses including Poly and Hanhai. In 2018, he participated in the "23rd Guangzhou International Art Expo," and the same year, China Post issued the commemorative stamp album "Brilliant Journey · Grand Blueprint — Rongbao 2018 Contemporary Painting and Calligraphy Masters Tribute to the 19th National Congress of the CPC, 2018 Year of the Dog Special Edition." In 2019, Rongbaozhai (Tianjin) published "Ma Tianbao's Gongbi Painting Collection" (the book features a title inscription by the contemporary renowned painter Ms. Chen Peiqiu: "Drawing Wisdom from Antiquity," with a preface; and the cover title "Communing with the Ancients" written by Mr. Cheng Maoquan, chairman of Hongbao Tang and calligrapher).
