Yuan Zhengyang (1955.9-), born in Chongqing, is specialized in oil painting. In 1980, he began working as an editor at the Liberation Army Daily. He graduated from the Fine Arts Department of the PLA Academy of Art in 1986. He joined the army in 1971, entered the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute for further studies in 1972, and attended the PLA Academy of Art for advanced studies in 1984. After completing his studies, he served as a fine arts editor at the Liberation Army Daily. His works have been exhibited in the Sixth National Art Exhibition, the First and Second China Oil Painting Exhibitions, the Centenary Exhibition of Chinese Oil Portrait Art, and the National Art Exhibition celebrating the 60th anniversary of the founding of the PLA. The comic series "Flowers Under the Mountain" (co-created) won the second prize at the Third National Comic Competition in 1986; his works also received the Outstanding Work Award at the National Art Exhibition marking the 60th anniversary of the founding of the PLA, and the bronze award at the Seventh National Art Exhibition, among others. His works are collected by the National Art Museum of China and the Chinese Revolution Military Museum.
