Feng Ling,born Li Hongcheng,also known as Master of Xinxiangzhai,Jiangxi Nanchang native,professional painter and calligrapher,writer,and poet.
Currently serving as Director of the Fuzhou Branch of the China International Academy of Painting and Calligraphy,Member of the China Calligraphers and Painters Association,Vice President of the China National Academy of Painting and Calligraphy,Committee Member of the China Academy of Painting and Calligraphy Art Commission,Member of the China Hard Pen Calligraphy Association,Art Consultant of the China Painting and Calligraphy Art Creation Center,Member of the Jiangxi Artists Association,Director of the Nanchang Artists Association,Director of the Fuzhou Qifeng Academy of Painting and Calligraphy.Since childhood, he has been passionate about literature and painting,publishing poetry and paintings in the magazine "Jiangxi Literature and Art" starting in 1990,in 1993, he studied poetry under the renowned poet Li Songtao,in 2000, he was appointed as a critic by the magazine "Television and Drama" in Jiangxi Province,in 2002, he participated in the first session of the writer's class organized by the literary magazine "Ganjiang Literature,"and subsequently published poems, essays, reportage literature, paintings, and critical articles in dozens of newspapers and magazines including "Literary Newcomers," "May," "Ganjiang Literature," "Jiangxi Daily," "China Painting and Calligraphy News," "China Cultural Daily," "Fine Arts News," "Collection Express," "China Family Daily," "Oriental Painting and Calligraphy News," and "Henan Pictorial."In 2014, he authored the script (and also directed) "Records of Service in Nanchang's Window Industries,"which received high praise from the Communist Youth League Central Committee and the Ministry of Commerce.Many of his works have been included in collections such as "The World Chinese Art Collection Encyclopedia," "National Fine Art Masterpieces Anthology," "Collection of Award-Winning Works from National Painting and Calligraphy Competitions," and "Dictionary of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Masters."He has been honored with titles including "Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Master,""Contemporary Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Master,""One of the 100 Influential Painting and Calligraphy Masters of China's Era,"and "China's 100 Innovative Talents Golden Statue Award."He is acclaimed by the Chinese painting and calligraphy community as"a mid-career artist with substantial talent."In recent years, Feng Ling has been repeatedly invited to participate in exhibitions organized by the Ministry of Culture of the People's Republic of China, the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the China Artists Association, the China Calligraphers Association, and provincial-level institutions:Guangzhou Art Expo,Shenzhen Cultural Industry Expo,Yunnan Kunming Cultural Industry Expo,Xinjiang Art Expo,Hunan Art Expo,Dongguan Art Expo,Shandong Art Expo,Hunan Art Expo.During his participation in the Kunming Cultural Industry Expo in 2014, when an earthquake struck Ludian, he donated calligraphy and painting works valued at over 2,000 yuan.Feng Ling is a unique painter and calligrapher; in his early years, he never entered the gates of a fine arts academy nor studied under any renowned masters,but relied entirely on his innate talent and diligence,absorbing the strengths of six schools,forging them into his own unique style,and after decades of refinement,he has carved out his own artistic domain,exceling in both painting and calligraphy,mastering freehand brushwork, landscapes, fruits and vegetables, figures, and animals,his birds, flowers, shrimps, and crabs rendered with bold, fluid ink and brushwork, exuding the vigorous vitality of nature.Feng Ling’s works resonate with the public,creating pieces beloved by ordinary people,letting his works speak for themselves,letting the public evaluate them,and earning societal acceptance.He maintains studios and exhibition halls in Beijing,Xi’an,Chengdu,Sanya,Shanghai.Currently based in Fuzhou, he devotes himself professionally to painting and calligraphy creation, as well as research and promotion of surname culture, filial piety culture, and public welfare culture.His calligraphy and painting works on themes of loyalty, filial piety, Confucianism, Buddhism, and Daoism are especially suitable for display in ordinary households.His artworks are widely collected across China, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Southeast Asia, the United States, Canada, Japan, South Korea, and other countries and regions.Friends who know Feng Ling well refer to him as a genius,yet he remains humble and low-key in character,self-identifying as a humble artisan of ink and brush,working diligently,striving hard,and revering the art of painting and calligraphy.He deeply understands that art belongs to the spiritual realm,transcending material existence,and constantly reminds himselfto develop his own ideological system,to recognize his own ideological framework,to avoid following trends in painting,nor merely reproducing nature,but instead using nature to portray himself,using material forms to express his inner spirit,for this is the true self.Feng Ling often says: "In the vast river of art, I am but a single drop of water,yet I still strive to create ripples,however insignificant they may be,I persist in my efforts."
