Personal Profile

Tong Xiaoming, art name Chen Guang, pen name Jie Hui, master of Gu Yun Calligraphy and Painting Studio, is from Yushan, Jiangxi. Born in 1965, he graduated from the Department of Calligraphy and Painting Design at Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts. A member of the Nine-Third Society, he is currently a member of the China Hard-Pen Calligraphy Association, the China Poetry Association, a senior excellent photographer in China, a member of the Jiangxi Poetry Society, the Jiangxi Artists Association, the Jiangxi Calligraphers Association, the Jiangxi Art and Craft Association, the Jiangxi Folk Literature and Art Association, the Jiangxi Fang Zhi Min Research Society, the Jiangxi Writers Association, a council member of the Shangrao Folk Literature and Art Association, a council member of the Shangrao Poetry Society, a member of the Xinjiang Literature Creation Research Association, a member of Panzhou Seal Society, deputy station chief of the Shangrao branch of 《Friends of Poetry》, and a correspondent for the Gan East station of 《China Tourism Photography Daily》. Calligraphy Works: Participated in the Global Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Competition Commemorating the 40th Anniversary of Reform and Opening-up and its accompanying album (June 2019); selected for the "China Calligraphy Cup" and awarded the Silver Medal; selected for the collection 《Masterpieces of Calligraphy》 published by the China Calligraphy Academy (October 2018); participated in the Hong Kong 《Global Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Competition Commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the Victory of the Anti-Japanese War》 and its accompanying album (November 2015). Calligraphy and poetry selected for the anthology 《Pure Autumn Charm》 of the 9th Autumn Brush Meeting in Nanchang, China under the theme "Putting Discipline First" (December 2015). Fine Art Works: The ink painting 《For the Lovely China》 was selected among the top 150 outstanding creative works in Jiangxi Province's Major Theme Fine Art Creation Project 2016–2017, listed as No. 56 and published online (June 28, 2016). Pastel artwork selected and included in the anthology 《Jiangxi Watercolor and Pastel Art》 (November 2015). Seal Carving Works: Selected for the anthology of the National 《First "Wanyinlou Award" International Seal Carving Competition and Invitational Exhibition of Master Seal Carvers》, and permanently collected by Wanyinlou in Shandong (2014). Selected for the "Tengwang Pavilion Cup" 10th Nanchang Literary and Artistic Grand Prize Competition, Seal Carving Category, awarded the Second Prize; work published in the competition anthology (June 18, 2014). Poetry Works: Poems such as 《Commemorating the 40th Anniversary of Reform and Opening-up》 were selected for the Japanese poetry collection 《Yuefeng Poetry Tube》 in Sino-Japanese Cultural Exchange (September 2018). Poems on Sino-Japanese Cultural Exchange, including 《Commemorating Dr. Koshiro Togawa》, were selected for the Japanese poetry collection 《Yuefeng Poetry Tube》 (November 2015). The poem 《Beautiful Yushan》 was published in the national journal 《Friends of Poetry》, issue No. 6, total No. 83 (2016); issue No. 3, total No. 86 (2017). Poetry selected for the anthology of the Jiangxi "Tengwang Pavilion Cup" (November 2015). Photography Works: Photographic series 《China Sanqingshan》 (scenic postcards), comprising 108 photographs, won the "Excellent Award" at the 5th China International Patent Expo and the "China Excellent Industrial Design Patent" award (September 2008). Works were published in the national newspaper 《China Intellectual Property》 and the monthly magazine 《China Intellectual Property》, and showcased on authoritative domestic intellectual property websites; photographer awarded the title "Excellent Contemporary Chinese Photographer" (December 17, 2008). Works published in 《China Tourism Photography Daily》: 《Guanyin Bringing Children》, 《Guanyin Crossing South》, 《Rivaling the Sky》, 《Goddess of Spring》, issues No. 84 (June 15, 2013); No. 93 (June 15, 2013); No. 95 (May 15, 2014). Paper-Cutting Works: Works including 《Portrait Commemorating the 120th Anniversary of Mao Zedong’s Birth》, 《Beautiful Yushan》, 《Beautiful Peaks of Sanqingshan》, 《Goddess Peak of Sanqingshan》 were exhibited in the 5th "Shenzhou Fengyun" National Paper-Cutting Competition under the theme "Beautiful China". Paper-cutting works received the Jiangxi Provincial Group Excellent Award (May 2013). Art Sculpture Works: Carbon sculpture 《Colossal Snake Emerging from the Mountain》 was exhibited in the "China Poyang Lake International Ecological Culture Festival Art Exhibition and Competition" and awarded the Silver Medal; the work is permanently collected by the Jiangxi Art and Craft Art Museum. An official online column titled "Artist Tong Xiaoming" in the field of folk art was published (November 2010). Stone sculpture 《Chinese Seal Dragon and Phoenix Inkstone》 won the Bronze Medal in the Jiangxi Provincial Art and Craft Competition commemorating the 90th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China (July 2011). Design Works: Overall planning and design of the memorial hall: Comprehensive planning and design of the Tanjiaqiao Memorial Hall in Huangshan City, Anhui Province. In May 2010, upon invitation by Director Luo Wentian, he was responsible for the full exhibition planning and image processing for both the "Northward Anti-Japanese Advance Corps Memorial Hall" and the "General Su Yu Memorial Hall". The exhibition projects were successfully completed and received high praise from General Su Rongsheng, son of General Su Yu, and Deputy Commander of the Beijing Military Region, Beijing (July 2010). Architectural Exterior Design: In March 2002, designed the architectural exterior effect drawing of the southern main gate of Yushan No.1 High School along the river road. Artistic Carving Design: In March 2011, invited by former Yushan County Deputy County Magistrate Rao Qinghua, designed a screen wall for the administrative center hall, featuring the theme of Sanqingshan scenery, titled 《Splendid Scenery of Sanqingshan》 large-scale wood carving design. The carving work was completed by Master Fang Dacheng from Dongyang, Zhejiang, and is now displayed in the Yushan County Administrative Center Hall (May 2011). Comic Book Creation and Design: Designed a comic book series for the Yushan County Rural Medical Insurance Bureau titled 《Procedure for Rural Medical Insurance Enrollment and Reimbursement》, designed for public clarity and easy understanding. Promotional boards were produced and displayed in all township hospitals and health centers throughout the county (March 2007).
