Sun Xiaochun, pen name: Shanwen. Male, Han ethnicity, born in December 1967, ancestral home in Raohe County, Heilongjiang Province, currently residing in Shandong Province, Linyi City. Since childhood, he has been passionate about calligraphy; at the age of nine, he first saw a fellow villager writing couplets and was deeply moved by the elegance of his characters, subsequently becoming his disciple. Under the master’s guidance, he diligently practiced calligraphy, laying a solid foundation. Later, he extensively studied various stele rubbings and inscriptions, proficient in multiple script styles (running script, regular script, clerical script, cursive script, Shoujin script, banner script, and pictographic characters), with a particular fondness for Wang Xizhi’s running script. In recent years, after personally witnessing Mr. Ma Yong’an, the founder of Yan Calligraphy, writing in the Yan style, he became captivated by this style and devoted himself to intensive study, making rapid progress; his Yan calligraphy works are highly favored by calligraphy enthusiasts. To enhance his artistic level, he has studied under several renowned calligraphers, including Mr. Ma Shunqiang, Vice Chairman of the Heilongjiang Calligraphers Association, and Mr. Ma Yong’an, the founder of Yan Calligraphy. Simultaneously, he has read widely and traveled across the country to visit masters, continuously elevating his art. He began learning painting in 2013, and his works have received praise from peers. With high aptitude, his calligraphy is innovative and uniquely personal. His works have been sold to numerous provinces and cities nationwide, with some even exported overseas. He possesses both substantial ability and great potential. He has participated in the series “The Beautiful Chinese Dream, Rule of Law You and Me,” held in Linyi, and attended the National Rule of Law Leaders’ Calligraphy Gathering. He also won the “Outstanding Performance Award” at the Third Linyi City Exhibition of Excellent Traditional Culture Entering Campuses and Intangible Cultural Heritage Fair.
