Xi Daojun, from Yongzhou, Hunan Province, is a member of the Communist Party of China and a retired Major in the military. He studied calligraphy under Luo Yong.

He has received the Outstanding Tutor Award from the Chinese Hard-Pen Calligraphy Association and, as an outstanding calligraphy instructor, participated in the "Gardeners' Praise Thailand Tour" exhibition, where his seal script work titled "Dream" was displayed at the China Cultural Center in Bangkok, Thailand. Additionally, he has won awards including the Merit Award in the Second National Ten-Thousand-Person Calligraphy Competition, the Excellent Award in the Third National Calligraphy Competition, and prizes in the Sixth Calligraphy and Painting Competition.
Over the years, Xi Daojun has steadfastly followed traditional paths, resolutely rejecting short-term gains-oriented thinking. He practices diligently without interruption, laying a solid foundation in calligraphy art; he advocates the concept of appealing to both refined and popular tastes. During breaks from practice, he occasionally participates in online evaluation events and frequently achieves success. He devotes himself to theoretical research, continuously enhancing his understanding of calligraphy art, and has published numerous articles on calligraphy theory in various media outlets and magazines, generating positive responses.
He established the Xi Yi Xuan Calligraphy Studio in Laibin, Guangxi, striving to cultivate young talent in calligraphy art. The studio has been authorized for multiple consecutive years as a regional division of national competitions, with many students winning awards. His teaching style is flexible, adhering to small-class, premium-quality principles and personalized instruction, helping students avoid unnecessary detours and find the most suitable methods for their own practice. As a veteran with over 20 years of military service, Xi Daojun draws inspiration from military training and management, applying beneficial methods to meticulously nurture in students qualities such as resilience, patience, and attention to detail. Many young students who have undergone his training not only improved their calligraphy skills but also experienced noticeable enhancements in character and demeanor.
He persistently promotes calligraphy art reaching grassroots communities and connecting with the public, actively participating in social public welfare activities. He has repeatedly taken part in public initiatives such as writing Spring Festival couplets for party members and composing family ethos and teachings for local residents. He regularly offers free calligraphy classes in communities, effectively disseminating calligraphy concepts among the masses. At the beginning of 2020, during the severe outbreak of the novel coronavirus pandemic, Xi Daojun remembered his identity as a Party member and stayed true to his original aspirations, actively engaging in epidemic prevention publicity efforts. He wrote more than 100 anti-epidemic slogans for seven or eight nearby villages and hamlets, creating a favorable atmosphere for public awareness—this effort was reported by multiple mainstream media outlets.
