Yang Junsheng, styled Shanmiao, art name Baguishanren, was born in 1965 in Beiliu City, Guangxi. He graduated from the Nanjing Political College of the People's Liberation Army and formerly served as an instructor at the Guilin Army College. After retiring, he devoted himself to the research, teaching, and creation of calligraphy art. He began practicing calligraphy in childhood, studying under renowned calligraphers Mai Huasan, Qi Gong, and Wu Zhongqi, and is the final disciple of the prominent Wuhan calligrapher Zhong Mingtian. He upholds upright moral conduct, avoids conformity, emphasizes foundational skills, and excels particularly in small regular script. His works are elegant, serene, and fluidly expressive. He has participated numerous times in military-wide and national calligraphy exhibitions, published dozens of academic papers, and authored multiple books including "Yang Junsheng's Calligraphy Practice Workbook for Primary School Students," "Yang Junsheng's Small Regular Script Diamond Sutra," "Yang Junsheng's Random Essays on Calligraphy," "Yang Junsheng's Semi-Cursive Script for Spring Festival Couplets," and "Yang Junsheng's Cursive Script for Auspicious Couplets." Many of his students have emerged as winners in national painting and calligraphy competitions, receiving various awards. He currently serves as Vice President of the Guilin Southern Academy of Painting and Calligraphy.
