Yi Xiangde, pen name Si Bo, courtesy name Xing Feng, art name Master of Mo Shi Tang, Yao ethnic group, born in 1964 in Fuchuan, Guangxi. He once worked in local grassroots cultural publicity and served as Director of the Fuchuan Cultural Bureau of Guangxi, making substantial and effective contributions to the local cultural and artistic endeavors. Mr. Xiangde is proficient in calligraphy and fine arts, knowledgeable about odd stones and connoisseurship, passionate about collecting, skilled in traditional Chinese medicine, and specializes in treating stone-related diseases (having alleviated much suffering for numerous stone patients locally and across the province and beyond). He currently serves as a committee member of the New Artistic Workers Committee of the China Calligraphers and Painters Association, a National Gift Artist, a specially appointed committee member of the International Civilization Forum Art Exchange Committee, an art collector, a member of the China Association of Couplet Studies, a specially invited calligrapher of the China Association of Couplet Calligraphy Art Committee, a member of the Hong Kong Artists Association, a standing director and vice president of the Guangxi branch of the Beijing Mo Hai Teng Long Calligraphy and Painting Academy, a academician of the Capital Yiyun Calligraphy and Painting Academy, a vice president of the Zhongcheng Painting and Calligraphy Academy at the National People’s Congress Meeting Center, a vice president of the Zhongdao Calligraphy and Art Research Institute, a vice president of the Ink and Wash Danqing Calligraphy and Painting Academy of China Education Television, the director of the Ink and Wash Danqing Fuchuan Training Base in Guangxi, a contracted artist of the programs "Ink and Wash Danqing" and "Master Lecture Hall", president of the Guangxi Xiangde Calligraphy and Painting Academy, and a National First-Class Calligrapher. His style is rooted in the traditions of Wang Xizhi and Wang Xianzhi, Zhang Xu, and Huai Su, with additional study of Mi Fu and Lin Sanzhi’s calligraphic principles and brush techniques, particularly fond of running and cursive scripts. His works have been exhibited and awarded in numerous domestic and international calligraphy and painting exhibitions. Works such as "Mountain Journey," "Dragon," "Buddha," and "Fu" have been collected by institutions in Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and other regions. From 2018 to 2019, he was invited twice to participate in China Education Television’s Spring Festival Calligraphy and Painting Gala "Splashing Ink, Chinese Sentiment," creating live on stage; his works "Fu," "You," and "Jiang Jin Jiu" were permanently collected by China Education Television. Published books: "Ink and Wash Danqing: Masterpieces by Yi Xiangde," "Xiangde Couplet Calligraphy," and "The Calligraphy Collection of Yi Xiangde." He has successively received honors including: "National Gift Artist," "Special Envoy for Sino-Japanese Cultural Friendship and Peace," "Celebrity of the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the PRC," "Special Contribution Figure of the 2019 Two Sessions," "Artist of Virtue and Artistic Excellence," "People’s Meritorious Artist," and "Leader in Calligraphy Art." The market value of his calligraphy works: RMB 18,000 per square foot domestically, RMB 20,000 per square foot internationally. In 2019, he participated in the "Ink and Brush Welcoming Spring – Calligraphy and Painting Auction" hosted by Beijing Huizhen International Art Auction Co., Ltd., successfully auctioning his cursive script "Qinyuanchun · Xue" and "Dragon," as well as running script "Fu." In 2020, he was invited to participate in the National Hundred Art Masters Exhibition Commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the CPC; multiple calligraphy works were collected by the organizing committee’s leadership, establishing him as one of the most promising and accomplished contemporary calligraphers with significant collecting potential.
