Lu Bigu, styled Hanmo Shanren, Master of Yixiu Studio, fourth-generation disciple of Qi Baishi, native of Guangxi, currently residing in Beijing, engaged in painting and calligraphy instruction, and recognized as one of the Hundred Outstanding Young Chinese Artists.


Currently a First-Class Artist at the Danqing Academy of Painting and Calligraphy, member of the Guangxi Artists Association, member of the Guangxi Calligraphers Association, and member of the Chinese Ink-Wash Association.

Influenced by his family’s cultural heritage, he began studying painting and calligraphy at the age of nine, meticulously copying ancient stele inscriptions and traditional landscape painting albums, proficient in poetry and classical Chinese literature, specializing in ink-wash landscape painting and small regular script calligraphy, diligently pursuing innovation. In his early years, he achieved notable mastery in traditional Chinese painting; later, he focused exclusively on calligraphy, incorporating his painting skills into his brushwork, infusing rigid and mundane Chinese characters with his imaginative creativity to develop a unique, elegant, and visually pleasing personal style. His calligraphy displays vigorous and fluid brushstrokes, robust and majestic structure, and unpredictable, dynamic forms. With interwoven strokes, sharp edges emerging in all directions, freely expressive and captivating, his works exude profound individuality and contemporary spirit, delivering powerful visual impact and embodying the grandeur and royal bearing of a true master. His artworks are highly esteemed by collectors both domestically and internationally.

Since entering teaching, he has devoted himself to nurturing students, cultivating a vast array of talented pupils with remarkable achievements. His students have repeatedly won awards, and his own works have earned the Silver Prize in the "Commemorative Exhibition for the 30th Anniversary of Zhu De’s Death," been included in the large-scale collection "In Memory of Qi Gong," and been published in such magazines and newspapers as "Chinese Ethnic Painting and Calligraphy," "Chinese Painters and Calligraphers," "China Defense Industry Daily," "People’s Daily Overseas Edition," "China Painting and Calligraphy News," "China Fine Arts News," and "China Painting and Calligraphy Art News."

In 2013, he was named one of the "50 Most Prominent Young Realist Painters of Contemporary China";
In April 2013, Guangxi Television produced a major documentary titled "Ink and Watercolor Splendor," which sparked strong reactions and widespread attention in the art community;
In November 2016, his work "Autumn Mountain Amid Crimson" won the Top 100 Award at the 8th Cross-Strait Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition;
In November 2016, his work "Ten Thousand Li of Rivers and Mountains" received the Excellent Award at the 8th Contemporary Chinese Landscape Painting Exhibition, and the piece was collected by the Guangxi Museum.
He has represented his region at cross-strait cultural exchange symposiums; his work "Horse Brings Success" was collected by former Kuomintang Chairman of Taiwan, Ma Ying-jeou.
