Chen Zhen Di
Personal Profile
Chen Zhen Ti, courtesy name Xingqi. Born in 1959, a Shenzhen native of Shanwei origin, a Communist Party member, an economist, a postgraduate, a honored soldier, and a national hero. He is currently the Deputy Director of the Chinese Culture Research Institute, a member of the Literature and Art Group of the Chinese Culture Celebrity Hall, a cultural advisor of the Shenzhen Chaoshan Chamber of Commerce, a member of the China Brightness Cause Promotion Association, and a member of the United Front Research Association of Guangdong Province. Previously, he served as the general manager and party branch secretary of a state-owned enterprise. During that time, he introduced the first national state-owned enterprise "Truck Single-vehicle Contract Responsibility Plan", established the first relocation service company in Shenzhen, and was awarded the "Contributor of the 30th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone". He is the holder of the world record for "The Collection of Hundred Flowers Poetry", was awarded the title of "Chinese Top 100 Artists" by CCTV, and is listed and introduced in "Baidu Baike" as a person of honor and achievement.
He once rescued Xiao Wu Hao in a traffic accident without revealing his identity. He was called a role model of the spirit of truth, goodness, and beauty in the era by Xue Yifeng, the vice editor-in-chief of the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily, and was included in the book "The Moment in History" of Shenzhen. He was called a "Strange Talent" by Guan Fei, the head of the literary and artistic department of the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily, and was called a talented officer by Saina, a reporter from the PLA Daily. He has participated in individual interviews with CCTV, Guangdong TV, Shanwei TV, and the People's Daily. He has also traveled abroad three times with national-level cultural groups. He has served as a guest speaker in the live studio of Shenzhen TV and Shenzhen Radio Station for economic and cultural programs. His original calligraphy and couplets, "The high red sun unifies the sky, the bright moon on the sea illuminates both sides," and "Military culture of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, adding brilliance year after year, the people's lives of firewood, rice, oil, salt, sauce, vinegar, and tea nourish the heart and cultivate virtue daily," were recommended by Mr. Cai Ye, Director of the China International Cultural Communication Center, and General Gai Longyun of the Guangzhou Military Area, and were collected by the United Front Department of the Central Government and the China Military Museum. "Dragon Soaring in Shenzhen" was collected by the Cambridge University Library and introduced.
Appreciation of calligraphy, "Rice Enters the Dou", "The Collection of Hundred Flowers Poetry", "The Poetic Transmission of Chinese Festival Culture", and "Spring Sounds of Shenzhen" have obtained national copyright for works. Among them, "Spring Sounds of Shenzhen" is the first poet in the country who spent ten years independently creating the entire city's culture in the form of poetry and songs. "The Collection of Hundred Flowers Poetry" is the first poet in Chinese history to collect one hundred original flower samples and match each with a magnificent seven-character quatrain, creating a hundred-meter scroll recognized by the World Records. It received attention from 280 million people on the front page of the official website of the Central People's Government. "The Poetic Transmission of Chinese Festival Culture" is also the first poet in Chinese history to create the entire process of Chinese festival culture through poetry and songs. One of the poems, "Ode to Spring", left a deep impression on me. He cleverly used 172 "spring" characters, with three "spring" characters per line, creating a long regulated verse with repeated characters. The content covers astronomy, geography, folk customs, natural weather, agricultural activities, and everything else. The way of collecting words is also refreshing. "Rice Enters the Dou" is written as a whole with twelve strokes connected, symbolizing twelve months of the year, matching the celestial cycle of thirty-six palaces and twenty-eight constellations. The strokes are interconnected, reading four sentences with sixteen characters in total, which is an absolute masterpiece in Chinese literature and art. Such a level of creation makes me, who make a living with words, feel ashamed. His books are displayed and collected by 50 cultural institutions including the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Ministry of Culture, the Publishing Administration, and the National Library. They are distributed by all the Xinhua Bookstores across the country and are very popular.
Creative calligraphy shows a free-style personality, strong and powerful, expressive and natural. Selecting elegant phrases, auspicious signs. Gathering energy, wealth, joy, and vitality without being vulgar. Each of his works contains the essence of traditional Chinese culture and unique characteristics. For example, the character "Flowers Bloom Wealth" (花开富贵), where "flowers bloom" in the Qing Dynasty referred to peonies, was cleverly written as a single stroke "wealth", connecting the "wealth" character with the "honour" character, meaning to wish people continuous wealth and prosperity. The famous line from Zhou Xingsi of the Southern and Northern Dynasties, "Fuli Shansheng" (福缘善庆), was cleverly written as the "blessing" character connected with the "fate" character, symbolizing the wish for blessing and fate to be together. The auspicious saying "Family Prosperity and Enterprise Flourishing" (家兴业旺) is written with connected strokes for each character, expressing the blessing of smooth progress and success. In the character "Fengqiao Night Mooring" (枫桥夜泊), the first character "moon" (月) is written with a straight stroke from top to bottom, representing the moon descending directly from the sky to illuminate Wuti Mountain, while the last character "to" (到) is written with a straight stroke from top to bottom, representing the bell sound of Hanshan Temple directly reaching the boat, showing a refined and ingenious thought that amazes everyone and is highly praised.
Chen Zhen Ti comes from a common rural family, belonging to a five-generation household in the eastern region of Guangdong. Among the "Seven Stars Accompanying the Moon" brothers, he is the fifth twin brother, and those familiar within the circle call him "Lao Wu". He has been hardworking since childhood, outgoing, optimistic, broad-minded, with a wide range of hobbies, and loves literature and art. He is skilled in music, chess, calligraphy, painting, poetry, songs, composition, and performance of cultural and artistic programs, known as "Chen the Jack-of-all-trades". He has won awards multiple times by self-writing, self-performing, and self-directing cultural programs. He is diligent and studious, with rich experience and an extraordinary memory. I once visited the Wenzhang Temple of Wen Tianxiang with him, and he immediately noticed six incorrect characters on the wall, even stating which line they were in. At the scene, he could compose a poem in three seconds, which impressed everyone. He can recite long poems, and is familiar with explaining chapters of famous works.
In his cultural exchange activities, he has also received guidance from ten outstanding artists and scholars, including Leimingdong, Vice President of the China National Academy of Calligraphy and Painting and a poet and professor; Wu Zehua, Vice President of the China National Academy of Calligraphy and Painting and a professor and one of the Ten Outstanding Calligraphers of the Republic; Qi BaoliGao, Professor of the Central Conservatory of Music and a renowned master of arts; Ma Jianan, Dean of the School of Literature at Shenzhen University and a Tang poetry expert professor; Sun Ruchao, Professor of Literature and Arts at East China University and a famous poet and calligrapher; Wuhan University's Professor of Literature and Arts, a famous artist of poetry, calligraphy, and seal carving; Wei Zhiping, Art Advisor to the State Council; Li Fushen, Professor of Arts at Harbin University; Cai Qingfeng, a master of the hall; Lin Xibin, Chairman of the Shenzhen Poetry Association and a famous poet and calligrapher; Jiang Zuozheng, a veteran poet known as "One Thousand Poems a Day"; and Lin Feng, Chairman of the Hong Kong Poetry Association, among others.
After the interview, during the leisure time of drinking Oolong tea, he was tested with famous works such as "The Song of Everlasting Sorrow", "The Lute Song", "Spring River Flower Moon Night", "Zhuge Liang Mourns Xiangguo", "The Assignment of the Poor", and "Short Song", and he could recite them fluently with emotion, receiving unanimous applause from the people present. He possesses a strong will, with an innovative spirit of "having what others don't, surpassing others, and creating something new". Since returning from the military to the local area, he has self-taught and obtained nineteen diplomas and certificates. In terms of literary achievements, he has created three national-level works and one world record, and four independent intellectual properties, which is one of the reasons he was awarded the title of "Chinese Top 100 Artists".
Chen Zhen Ti is passionately concerned about education. During periods when he had surplus funds, he generously donated to support education, made selfless contributions, and set an example for society. He was awarded the honor of the "Luyou Mayor Award" by the Shenzhen Municipal Government. He has supported 11 children from poor areas to complete their studies and enter society, and has long participated in various positive social and cultural activities, giving over 200 lectures on public welfare in various places, enterprises, and schools, promoting the traditional Chinese culture of patriotism, filial piety, and motivation. He is kind-hearted and helpful, and in his hometown and Shenzhen, his presence is often seen at "red and white" events such as weddings and funerals, earning him the nickname "the good deed volunteer" and receiving high praise from society.
Chen Zhen Ti's development stage also has a bittersweet journey. During his tenure at a state-owned enterprise, due to his struggle against corruption, he was placed on the blacklist by superiors for not signing the loan guarantee for a private enterprise and the previous construction project accounts, and was sent to the "cold palace" and subjected to the "three rises and three falls" ordeal. He had three attempts to start a business, experiencing setbacks and painful lessons like a leaky house in the night rain. He once faced the hardship of "poverty in a bustling city with no one to ask about it", and had a period of difficult economic life where he sought help and was met with disdain. He was ridiculed and mocked by some petty people, and suffered negative publicity and damage to his reputation. In the golden age of Shenzhen's rapid development, he seemed to feel as if his fortune had turned from gold to iron. He almost lost the opportunities of timing, location, and people, and went through a long difficult period of over a decade, which caused many related problems and contradictions for his personal, family, and clan. When talking about this, he said it was too long to express in a short paper, and as stated in "The Assignment of the Poor", this is just the time, fate, and luck.
Chen Zhen Ti is a honored soldier who was injured and awarded in the "Sino-Vietnamese Border Self-Defense Counterattack Operation" in 1979. He was reported by the People's Daily as the most beloved person of the new era of the Republic and was received by the leaders of the Party and the state. He currently enjoys national honor allowances. Given his contributions and honors to society, the Shenzhen Municipal Government provided him with a talent housing as the "World Record, Chinese Top 100 Artists" studio. Although the indoor area is not large, every corner is arranged with cultural connotation, and his personal collection of rare cultural treasures is refreshing and eye-opening.
Through the extraordinary and arduous journey, Chen Zhen Ti tempered his strong will and became an outstanding cultural celebrity and artist. According to the information, the several corrupt officials and the small people who persecuted him during the three rises and three falls have all been imprisoned and punished according to the law. Now he is healthy, happy, energetic, smiling at life, and his brush produces brilliance. He currently serves as a cultural advisor for the World Chaoshan Media Culture Group and five other community organizations, including the Shenzhen Chaoshan Chamber of Commerce. He continues to create his fourth work, "Clouds and Skies", which will be the first long narrative poem in traditional cultural form in the country, and is expected to be completed in five years.
It is a lifelong honor for me to visit a national hero, honored soldier, world record holder, and Chinese Top 100 Artist. I hope to have the opportunity to interview him again in the future. His patriotism, love, pursuit of knowledge, ability to overcome difficulties, creative ability, and moral spirit are worth learning from.
