Personal Profile
Lin Pengsheng, also known as Yisheng, was born in Xuwen, Guangdong. From a young age, he has been deeply passionate about calligraphy and has practiced diligently in silence. He has been engaged in the creation and research of calligraphy for many years, with an in-depth study of steles and scrolls by famous calligraphers from the Tang and Song dynasties. He emphasizes absorbing the strengths of various schools and masters throughout history. In terms of themes, concepts, layout, and artistic conception of his works, he is able to accept and utilize diverse elements. His profound foundation enables him to create freely and boldly, with strict rules and regulations, solid yet not lacking in elegance, lively yet not losing solemnity.
For many years, he has persisted in creation, and this persistence originates from his deep love for Chinese calligraphy art, which is the expression of his inner emotions. He likes to express his feelings directly. No matter when or where, when the blank paper is spread out, the ink is thickly applied, and the brush moves like flowing clouds and running water, full of spirit and vitality. The brushwork flows up and down, controlling left and right, without any ambiguity or negligence; all rules are within his fingers and wrists.
He has won the National Folk Calligraphy Excellence Competition award for three consecutive sessions.
He won the gold prize in the "Never Forget the Original Intention" National Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition.
In 2019, he was awarded the title of Meritorious Artist.
