Its color, form, ink density, dryness or wetness, breaks and connections, thickness or thinness, visibility or concealment—all exhibit endless variation and extraordinary vitality. His calligraphy integrates the Confucian virtues of perseverance, courage, and ambition, as well as the Daoist qualities of emptiness, detachment, and tranquil serenity. Often, it deliberately avoids elaborate transformation, stripping away worldly ostentation through the brushwork to pursue a profound, unadorned, and transcendent essence.
