Hou Qinghua, male, born in May 1956, from Sichuan. Student of the Department of Calligraphy at the First Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Correspondence University in 1983.

Currently:
Member of the Chinese Couplets Association;
Hubei Provincial Calligraphers' Association member;
Member of the Wuhan Calligraphers' Association;
Councillor of the Hubei Painting and Calligraphy Association;
Councillor and Deputy Secretary-General of the Hubei YingTai Painting and Calligraphy Academy.

Since childhood, he was urged by his father who studied in a private school to learn calligraphy, and under his family education, he first learned the Yan style, then the Wei and seal scripts, extensively learning from various masters. During the Cultural Revolution, he practiced calligraphy at home, later enrolled in the Department of Calligraphy at the Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Correspondence University. His works mainly focus on small regular script, running and cursive script, and seal script. He has participated in more than 40 national calligraphy exhibitions and has won various awards multiple times, and has also been published in newspapers and magazines.

His works are bold and pursue the beauty of natural and generous style, with brushwork freely expressing his inner feelings. His seal carving is based on Han dynasty seals, with heavy and steady style, and thick cutting technique. In his spare time, he especially likes engraving. His decorative style is full of clever ideas, which are loved by the general public.
