Personal Profile
Qi Binghe, born in 1960, is a native of Wuyi, Shaanxi. He has been studying literature and calligraphy since childhood, and by the age of forty, he had already made remarkable achievements. Since 1988, he has published literary works such as the essays "Waiting for Swallows to Build Nests" and "Mountain Peach Blossoms," and the short story "The Woman in High Heels." He has been diligently practicing calligraphy, never ceasing even in cold winters and hot summers. He learns from the ancients without being rigid, avoiding their clichés; he learns from the modern without being vulgar, creating his own unique style. His regular, running, cursive, and seal scripts are all exquisite. Especially in running and cursive scripts, he continues the "strange" style of Banchao, creating his own unique characteristics. His works show severity among the ancient and crude, speed within slowness, softness like flowing water, and strength like an axe. From 1986 to now, he has won more than 30 first, second, third, gold, silver, and bronze awards in domestic and international calligraphy competitions. He has been invited abroad for cultural and artistic exchanges, served as a judge in competitions, and been a member of the editorial committee. His works are included in more than ten large-scale calligraphy reference books such as "International Hard Pen Calligraphers Dictionary" and "History of Chinese Hard Pen Calligraphy," and have been collected, carved, and displayed in major exhibitions. In the 60th anniversary of the founding of the country's calligraphy and painting competition, his work was included in "Art Life - Chinese Master Art Exhibition" and produced personalized commemorative stamps released nationwide. In February 2014, his work was selected in the National Second Hard Pen Calligraphy Album Handscroll Art Exhibition. In October 2015, his hard pen calligraphy work won the special prize at the National Poetry, Painting, and Calligraphy Artists Annual Meeting. In 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019, his hard pen calligraphy works were specially made into limited edition commemorative stamps for the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, the 40th anniversary of reform and opening up, and the 70th anniversary of the founding of the country, which were released nationwide. In 2016, 2017, and 2018, his hard pen calligraphy works won the first prize in the 7th, 8th, and 9th "Xizhi Cup" National Poetry, Painting, and Calligraphy Artists Invitation Competition. In recent years, to popularize and improve the hard pen writing level of students, he has given lectures free of charge and gifted works, receiving great affection from primary and secondary school students and praise from well-known figures in the calligraphy circle. In 2017, he founded the "Write Well Calligraphy Art School." "Writing well starts from children." Using holidays, he provides calligraphy training for middle and primary school students. On the three-foot platform, he cultivates peach and plum trees; with a divine brush, he writes spring and autumn.
