丁 Yu-cheng has loved painting since childhood. From the 1970s to 1980s, he studied under the famous painter Feng Shoushi, and after more than ten years of professional study, he developed a strong interest and profound understanding of Chinese calligraphy and painting, thus determining the direction of his artistic life. During this time, he was also a disciple of the famous art restorer Wan Chaoqing, where he observed and understood the essence of ancient and modern artists' pursuit of art and their dedication to creation, from which he absorbed nourishment and broadened his horizons. It was a great fortune for him to receive guidance from renowned artists such as Feng Jianwu, Cen Xuegong, Yan Songfu, Su Baozhen, Zhou Beixi, Xu Wuweng, Hu Dingyu, Zhang Yinnong during his art studies, greatly improving his professional skills. In March of the Xinwei year, he received the plaque "Yinzhenzhai" inscribed by Xu Wuweng. After retiring early in 2008, he devoted himself to studying Chinese calligraphy and painting, excelling in freehand painting, interpreting the spirit of the four gentlemen - bamboo, chrysanthemum, orchid, and plum blossom - with traditional brushwork and modern aesthetics. He holds the concept of inheriting the essence, maintaining integrity, learning modestly, learning from nature, and innovating. He firmly believes in the principle that "effort leads to natural achievement," understands the spirit, endures loneliness, and continues to learn, ultimately achieving the goal of dedicating the most true and beautiful paintings in his heart to the great era.
