Lu Xiaohua
Lu Xiaohua, female, courtesy name Shuhua, art name Moxiang Hua Zhai, is a native of Tianjin City. She is a member of the Northeast Knife Painter Association, a contemporary painter of the Modern New Literati Painting School, and a self-directed artist among middle-aged and young painters. She once studied under painter Ben Daoli, a student of Fu Baoshi, Lü Sibai, and Huang Xianzhi, learning both meticulous (gongbi) and freehand (xieyi) painting techniques. She also studied colored ink landscape painting under Master Feng Dejian, a disciple of Master Zeng Gang. She is especially skilled in colored pencil drawing and knife oil painting, with her works having been selected for exhibition in events hosted by municipal artists' associations.
A comprehensive view of her artworks reveals solid and mature brushwork techniques, bold and decisive use of color, tightly structured compositions, and magnificent visual impact.
Her colored pencil drawings feature confident, fluid lines, with flexible application of layering, pointillism, pressing, and scraping techniques. She skillfully employs gradations of vibrant colors to capture the lightness and translucency of her subjects. Her gongbi paintings exhibit steady, natural strokes with seamless transitions, expressive pauses and turns, and masterful outlining and coloring techniques. Her colored ink landscape paintings break free from conventional constraints, featuring summarized and exaggerated compositions, rich and vivid colors, broad thematic scope, and a highly innovative spirit. Her knife paintings draw upon diverse influences, cultivated through dedicated study, gradually forming her own distinctive style. By skillfully combining knife and brush, she creates artworks with strong three-dimensionality, spatial depth, realism, and profound closeness to nature.
Her profound life experiences, wide-ranging interests, passionate and individualistic pursuit, and proactive, diligent spirit of exploration will continuously elevate and refine her artistic style. As the ancients said: “When talent and learning are equally developed, the spirit flows freely through the brush.” Possessing multifaceted talents and an unbounded creative genius, she draws inspiration from both ancient and modern, Eastern and Western traditions, finding a harmonious artistic balance between tradition and modernity. Deeply captivated by the mysteries of painting, she steadily advances along her artistic path toward her destined goals and gradual success.
