Personal Profile
Ren Qiying, style name Yongzhou Mo Ren, has been engaged in education for 42 years and currently resides in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province, specializing in calligraphy education for university students and teenagers. Member of the China Calligraphers Association, member of the Shaanxi Education Society, member of the Shaanxi Education System Calligraphy and Painting Artists Association, member of the Baoji City Calligraphers Association, Vice President of the Beijing Huaxia Xiyanghong Art Research Institute, Council Member of the Xi’an Shengtang Calligraphy and Painting Research Institute, Visiting Professor at Northwest University, and Dean of the Xi’an Daxing Calligraphy and Painting Academy.
Born into a scholarly family, he has been deeply influenced by his father since childhood and developed a profound love for calligraphy art, diligently studying and practicing without pause. He has studied regular script by emulating Ouyang Xun; running script by emulating the “Two Wangs” and Wen Zhengming; and cursive script by emulating Zhiyong, Sun Guoting, Yu Youren, and other calligraphers. On his journey of learning and creating calligraphy, he has benefited from the direct transmission and guidance of the master of regular script, Mr. Ren Buwu. Starting with regular script, he upholds the legacy of the Wei and Jin dynasties, studying both stele and manuscript traditions with emphasis on manuscripts, and cultivating proficiency in all five script styles. Learning from the ancients and practicing diligently, his works have developed an artistic style that is majestic without being ostentatious, fluid without losing discipline, light and graceful without being frivolous, and elegant without being vulgar.
His works have participated in numerous domestic competitions, won awards, and been collected. He has been invited to write trademarks and plaques for many renowned enterprises, public institutions, and tourist attractions, receiving widespread acclaim.
Driven by his pursuit and inheritance of traditional Chinese culture and his passion for calligraphy art, he strives to do his best. Writing good characters and being a good person, and providing calligraphy works beloved by the general public—this is the greatest joy of my life!
