Wang and Cheng

Wang Hecheng, male, from Tai'an City, Shandong Province, is a renowned contemporary calligrapher, a National First-Class Calligrapher, and an artist of both virtue and artistry.

Mr. Wang Hecheng has been passionate about calligraphy since childhood, influenced by his family. In 1977, he began working and furthered his studies at the Calligraphy Class of Renmin University of China. In 1983, he attended a one-year hard-pen calligraphy course hosted by Master Pang Zhonghua.

He has studied under masters such as Xu Zhaowei, Yuan Shengji, Ni Hejun, and Zhang Zhihong. From beginner to advanced, research, and creative classes, he humbly learned, diligently researched, practiced relentlessly, and often worked late into the night. He systematically studied and imitated regular, running, clerical, and cursive scripts, laying a solid theoretical and practical foundation.

In recent years, his reputation and influence in the field of calligraphy have steadily grown. His works frequently appear in major exhibitions, competitions, auctions, newspapers, and media outlets, receiving consistent praise from professionals and collectors alike. His works have been selected and published in large-scale publications such as "Selected Works of Chinese Regular Script" and "Selected Works of Chinese Running Script."

In 2006, he was awarded the title "Golden Award Artist of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy."
In 2011, he won the Gold Medal of the National Art Grand Prize and was honored with the title "Outstanding Chinese Ethnic Artist."
In 2014, he won the First Prize in the 5th "Xizhi Cup" National Poetry, Painting, and Calligraphy Invitational Competition.
In September 2020, he won the Gold Medal at the 4th Chinese Cup National Poetry, Painting, Calligraphy, and Seal Carving Exhibition.
