Zhang Yunhai, born in 1950 in Yingkou City, Liaoning Province, developed a passion for painting from an early age. He began studying oil painting and printmaking in 1969 and has participated in numerous provincial and municipal art exhibitions. In 2000, he engaged in oil painting creation at the Hangzhou branch of Qianjiang Art Company in Hong Kong, and later moved to Jingdezhen to focus on ceramic art. He is currently based in Songzhuang, Beijing, specializing in Chinese painting.
 
In 1991, he furthered his studies at the Central Academy of Arts and Design. He is now a National Senior Art Master, a China Ceramic Art Master, a Council Member of the China Artists Association’s Painting and Calligraphy Research Society, a Standing Council Member of the Jingdezhen Ceramic Chamber of Commerce, Deputy Director of Ziyue Art Museum, a contracted artist of Confucius Art Museum, and a contracted artist for Group I of the CCTV Education Channel program "Ink and Wash Colors: Master Lectures." His works have been exhibited in numerous painting and calligraphy exhibitions, art fairs, and invitational exhibitions of master artists. His works have been featured in the China Post commemorative stamp albums "Developing Science and Technology, Creating New Glories" and "Belt and Road, Building Prosperity."
 
The Chinese painting "Sea Swallow" was sold for RMB 105,000 by Beijing Yubao Jiahe International Auction Co., Ltd. on November 30, 2019;
The Chinese painting "Zongheng" was sold for RMB 280,000 by Beijing HuiZhen International Auction Co., Ltd. on May 18, 2021;
Won the Bronze Award in the "Ocean" category of the Third "Yuyao Cup" Original Ceramic Art Competition for Overglaze Porcelain Panels, hosted by Jingdezhen International Ceramic Artists;
Won the Gold Award at the 2020 "Huayun" National Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition.
 
His work has been published nationwide by Heilongjiang Publishing House in the volume "The Cultural Lineage of Painters: National Collection of Painting and Calligraphy Masters." He is also featured in the special volume "Century Masters (1921–2021)," part of the large-scale documentary collection honoring inheritors of China’s century-old artistic masters. His oil paintings, printmaking, porcelain panels, and Chinese paintings are collected by art enthusiasts both domestically and internationally.
