Zhang Aiqin, female, born in 1956, a member of the Communist Party, graduated from Xi'an with a bachelor's degree. Native to Jincheng City, Shanxi Province, she previously worked in a government agency in Baoji City, Shaanxi Province, and is now retired.
In her youth, she developed a passion for calligraphy, beginning with Ouyang Xun's regular script. After initial practice, she became particularly fond of running and cursive scripts. She has studied Wang Xizhi's "Seventeen Posts" and "Preface to the Orchid Pavilion Collection," greatly admires the cursive script of Huai Su, especially practicing his "Autobiography Scroll." She also deeply loves the calligraphy of Yue Fei and Mao Zedong, studying their works to appreciate their essence and charm, gaining immense benefit. Her primary focus in calligraphy is on running and cursive scripts. In recent years, she has developed a deep affection for Yan Zhenqing's style, practicing inscriptions such as "Duobao Pagoda Stele," "Qinli Stele," "Maugu Xiantan Ji Stele," and "Gao Shen Tie." Yan's style, majestic and grand, powerful and rigorous yet varied, possesses a beautiful artistry that leaves a lasting impression. In addition, she practices small seal script, drawing inspiration from the elegance of Wu Rangzhi's seal script.
Her main focus is on running and cursive script. Currently, she is a member of the China Hard Pen Calligraphers Association, provincial and municipal hard pen calligraphy associations; researcher at the Provincial Academy of Painting and Calligraphy Arts; researcher at the Provincial Calligraphy Research Center; member of the city's calligraphers association; member of the Municipal Elderly Cadres Calligraphy Association; member of the Municipal Mao-style Calligraphy Association; member of the Municipal Youth Calligraphers Association; council member of the Yandi Cultural Friends Painting and Calligraphy Society; academician of the China National Academy of Painting Baoji Branch.
Her works have won numerous awards: Third Prize in the First Baoji Women's Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition in 1991; Outstanding Award in the National Invitation Competition for Famous Artists Celebrating the 90th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China in 2011; Outstanding Award in the National Invitation Competition for Famous Artists Celebrating the Successful Holding of the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in 2012; Third Prize in the Baoji City Laoke Association Hengkang Cup Hard Pen Calligraphy Competition in 2015; Gold Medal in the Xizhi Stele National Calligraphy Competition organized by the China Hard Pen Calligraphy Association in 2016; Excellent Work Award in the Baoji City Laojiao Association Calligraphy, Painting, and Photography Exhibition in September 2017; Third Prize in the Western Friendly Cities Senior Citizens' Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition in Tianshui in September 2018; Special Prize in 2018, with her work included in the "Annual of Famous Literary and Artistic Works by Contemporary Chinese Artists"; Gold Medal in the Second "New Era" National Poetry, Calligraphy, Painting, and Seal Carving Competition in June 2019; exhibited in the Minjin Kaiming Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China in August 2091; Gold Medal in the Second "China Academy of Calligraphy Cup" National Calligraphy Competition in October 2019; and Outstanding Work Award in the Baoji Xiangyang Cup Calligraphy Competition in 2019. Her works have been collected by the Weibin District Culture Center of Baoji City and cultural departments at the city and provincial levels.
