Liu Chunlei, styled Yisheng, master of Shoumo Studio.
Born in May 1965 in Baicheng, Jilin Province, he has loved painting and calligraphy since childhood. He is currently a member of the China Transportation Calligraphers and Painters Association and a member of the Liaoning Provincial Artists Association.
Mr. Liu Chunlei is particularly renowned for his paintings of roosters. Since participating in the "Painting Roosters in the Year of the Rooster" exhibition organized by China Calligraphy and Painting Newspaper in 2005, he has devoted himself to creation with unwavering diligence. His rooster paintings exhibit diverse postures, lifelike detail, and a dynamic presence that seems ready to leap from the paper, exuding great vigor.
In 2020, the Year of the Rat, Mr. Liu Chunlei embarked on a new series of ink paintings titled "Painting Rats in the Year of the Rat." This marks the fourth season of his second cycle of zodiac-themed ink painting creations—a long and enduring artistic journey. Actively engaged in public welfare activities. In May 2008, he created artworks on-site and auctioned them to support victims of the Sichuan earthquake; the China Artists Association awarded him a certificate of honor;
In November 2010, he participated in the "Love China—Supporting One Million Empty-Nest Elderly Volunteer Service Campaign," organized by the China Volunteer Service Foundation, the China Calligraphers Association, and the China Artists Association, donating ink paintings;
In 2013, he donated multiple calligraphy and painting works to the Ya'an region in Sichuan Province, the Jiangsu Provincial Youth Development Foundation, and the Jiangsu Province Hope Project Office. Committed to artistic exchange and cultural heritage. Since participating in the 12th Hongbaotang Exhibition of Master Artists’ Hundred Fan Paintings in 2009, Mr. Liu Chunlei’s fan paintings have been selected for eight consecutive exhibitions.
In December 2013, he was invited to participate in the China Calligraphy and Painting World Tour events in Italy, France, and the United Kingdom.
In March 2014, he was invited to attend the First China Calligraphy and Painting World Tour Summit Forum, where his ink paintings were exhibited in Bangkok, Thailand. In recent years, Mr. Liu Chunlei’s works have been exhibited in multiple cities both domestically and internationally, and his ink paintings have gained widespread acclaim; numerous pieces have been collected by friends both at home and abroad.
