Song Guoqiang
Song Guoqiang, born in 1982 in Shandong, pen name Mo Shi, art name Da Lu. President of Donglin Seal Society. National First-Class Artist of China, renowned contemporary seal carver, calligrapher, painting and calligraphy appraiser and collector, and expert in I Ching and Feng Shui. Member of the China Calligraphers Association, member of the Shandong Provincial Calligraphers Association branch, council member of the China Painters and Calligraphers Association, professor at the Hong Kong Art Exchange Center, inheritor of China’s Intangible Cultural Heritage, awarded the title of World Master of Art by UNESCO, lifetime honorary vice chairman of the China National Center for Modern Art Research, senior academician of the China Academy of Painting and Calligraphy. Awarded the title of Special Artist for State Gifts of China by the Art Appraisal and Evaluation Committee of the Zhongnanhai State Gifts, specially appointed expert of the Hong Kong Academy of Painting and Calligraphy, dean of Danying Academy of Painting and Calligraphy, visiting professor at Hebei Art College. Special art advisor for Guangzhou Zhenji Culture Co., Ltd. Awarded the title of Ambassador for the Dissemination of National Cultural Art by the official website of Chinese artists.
In 2003, he studied seal carving under Master Lai Yishi at the Xiling Seal Society’s studio. In 2005, he was admitted to the undergraduate program in Calligraphy and Seal Carving at the China Calligraphy Academy, and after graduation, pursued graduate coursework at the China Academy of Fine Arts under the tutelage of masters Liu Jiang, Chen Dazhong, and Wang Yongjiang. He held a personal calligraphy and seal carving exhibition at the China National Art Museum in the same period. During the 2010 ASEAN Expo, his commissioned works were collected by leaders of Thailand, Laos, the Philippines, and other countries. Art Ambassador for the Beijing Winter Olympics; invited to participate in the opening ceremony and create a series of calligraphy and seal carving works for the Winter Olympics. The China Philatelic Publicity Center, in collaboration with China Post, telecommunications authorities, and minting institutions, published the thematic stamp album “Strong Culture, Strong Nation,” inviting Song Guoqiang to participate and issuing his works as postage stamps.
